Chapter 1150 on the Mississippi Coast

A Little History

Our Plans for Service

A Little History

The Mississippi Gulf Coast has a long history as home to Active Duty, Retirees, and Veterans. The Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard have installations here.  The Gulf Coast is a popular area for people moving from other states. Veterans are served by the VA Medical Center in Biloxi. Veterans are respected in their communities. Ocean Springs is home to the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

At one time a VVA Chapter did exist locally, but over time it faded. In August 2021 four Vietnam Veterans met for coffee and agreed to work toward re-establishing a new Chapter to serve Veterans and their communities.

On September 12, 2022 Mississippi Coast Chapter 1150 was granted non-profit corporation status by the Mississippi Secretary of State and a Charter for the new Chapter 1150 was issued by the Vietnam Veterans of America.

"Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another."

Our Plans for Service

Our Plans for Service

Yes, we are developing plans and programs to serve the needs of not only Vietnam Veterans but all Veterans as well.

There are many Veterans on the Coast who experience food insecurity...in other words, they do not have enough food. One of our goals is establishing a food pantry where Veterans in need can receive food for themselves and their families.

We want to establish a scholarship for Veterans seeking a skill, trade, or craft.

What are YOUR ideas for serving the Veteran community?
